1. About LanternScout

LanternScout is operated by LanternScout Technologies Inc. (BC Registration No. BC1595355) ("LanternScout", "we", "us", or "our"), a British Columbia corporation. We provide an AI-assisted discovery service that helps parents and guardians explore local classes, camps, and extracurricular activities for children. The Service is operated from British Columbia, Canada.

LanternScout does not own, operate, staff, supervise, control, vet, screen, license, insure, or endorse any activity provider displayed through the Service. Activity providers are independent third parties.

2. Eligibility and Acceptance

By accessing or using LanternScout (the "Service"), you confirm that you are the age of majority in your jurisdiction and are a parent, legal guardian, or other adult authorized to use the Service on behalf of a child.

The Service is intended for adults only. Children must not submit information directly through the Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

3. Discovery Tool Only — Not an Endorsement

LanternScout is a discovery tool only. The Service uses artificial intelligence to suggest activity types, summarize publicly available information, organize listings, and surface providers that may be relevant to the information you submit.

Displaying, ranking, summarizing, or suggesting an activity or provider does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, verification, certification, or guarantee by LanternScout.

Assumption of Risk: By using LanternScout, you acknowledge that we do not conduct background checks, site visits, safety audits, or any verification of activity providers. You expressly assume all risks associated with your and your child's participation in any activity found through the Service. Your decision to contact, enroll in, pay for, or attend any activity is based entirely on your own independent due diligence.

Listings, ratings, summaries, images, hours, prices, availability, and other provider information may be sourced from Google Places, provider websites, AI generation, or other third-party sources. This information may be incomplete, inaccurate, AI-generated, or out of date. You are solely responsible for verifying all information directly with the provider before registering or paying.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LanternScout is not responsible for the acts, omissions, negligence, conduct, services, facilities, staff, contractors, or policies of any third-party activity provider.

4. Acceptable Use and Information You Must Not Submit

You agree to provide only information that you have the legal right to share and only the minimum information reasonably necessary to use the Service.

Do not submit a child's full name, school, exact home address, contact information, precise location, date of birth, medical diagnosis, health records, photographs, financial information, government identification, or other identifying or sensitive personal information. The Service is not designed to receive or protect such information.

You must not:

• use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purpose;
• submit content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate;
• attempt to manipulate, jailbreak, bypass, or interfere with the Service's safety systems or AI features;
• scrape, reverse-engineer, overload, disrupt, or misuse the Service or its underlying APIs;
• use bots, scripts, or automated tools without our prior written permission;
• impersonate another person or submit information about another person without appropriate authorization; or
• use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or causes LanternScout to violate a third-party service provider's terms or policies.

Because our AI features are powered by Google, your use of them must also comply with Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. Use of map and places features is also subject to Google Maps Platform Terms of Service.

We may block, filter, rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access to the Service at any time where we reasonably believe that misuse, security risks, or violations of these Terms have occurred.

5. Service Limits

To keep the Service available and fair for all users, we apply usage limits. These include a maximum number of searches per day per network and a maximum number of AI website reviews per day per network. Limits may change at any time. Attempts to circumvent limits through proxies, VPNs, or other means are a violation of these Terms.

6. AI-Generated Content

Some content on LanternScout — including activity suggestions, listing summaries, category notes, and provider website summaries — is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence.

Probabilistic nature: AI models are probabilistic and may produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate outputs, sometimes called "hallucinations." You agree that you will not rely solely on AI-generated content for time-sensitive, safety-critical, or professional decisions.

AI-generated content is provided as a starting point for your own investigation only. LanternScout does not provide medical, psychological, developmental, educational, legal, or other professional advice. The Service does not diagnose, assess, or evaluate any child.

If you receive content that appears inappropriate, harmful, or incorrect, stop relying on it and contact us at hello@lanternscout.com.

7. Children's Information

LanternScout is intended to be used by adults on behalf of children. When you submit general information about a child (such as an age range or description of interests), you confirm that you are that child's parent, legal guardian, or an adult with appropriate authorization to do so, and that you will not submit identifying or sensitive information about the child.

Information you submit may be processed temporarily and sent to third-party service providers, including Google Gemini and Google Places, as described in our Privacy Policy. Child descriptions are not stored by LanternScout after the request completes.

8. Anonymous Analytics

By using the Service, you acknowledge that LanternScout collects anonymous, non-identifying analytics to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. This includes anonymous session identifiers, age ranges, approximate locations (city level), activity categories, and usage events. No names, email addresses, IP addresses, or full locations are stored in our analytics database. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Feedback Submissions

Feedback you submit (including star ratings, written comments, and usage satisfaction responses) may be used to improve the Service. If you checked the option to allow anonymous sharing of your feedback, you allow us to use your comment anonymously to improve the Service and in future promotional materials. We review shared comments before any publication. You may withdraw this permission at any time by contacting us at hello@lanternscout.com.

Do not include personal information, your child's name, or sensitive details in feedback comments.

10. Permission to Process Submissions

You retain any rights you may have in the information you submit. By submitting information, you grant LanternScout Technologies Inc. a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to process that information solely as reasonably necessary to: operate the Service, generate results, improve the Service (using anonymous analytics and feedback), protect the Service from abuse, and comply with applicable law.

11. Optional Contributions

LanternScout is free to use. We offer an optional way for users to make a voluntary contribution to support the Service through Stripe (our secure Stripe donation page). Contributions are entirely optional and are not required to access any feature of the Service. By contributing through Stripe, you agree to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

12. Third-Party Services and External Links

LanternScout relies on third-party services to operate, including Google (Gemini API, Google Places, Google Fonts), Render (hosting and database), and Cloudflare (network security and delivery). When you interact with a third-party activity provider or leave LanternScout via an external link, that third party's terms and privacy practices apply. Review them carefully before providing personal information or making a payment.

13. No Emergency, Medical, or Professional Service

LanternScout is not an emergency service and is not a substitute for professional judgment. Do not use LanternScout to make decisions that require medical, psychological, legal, educational, or other professional advice. Contact an appropriate qualified professional or emergency service where needed.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, LanternScout Technologies Inc. expressly disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any information provided through the Service is accurate, complete, or current.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LanternScout Technologies Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from:

• your use of or inability to use the Service;
• reliance on AI-generated content, activity suggestions, or provider summaries;
• the acts, omissions, conduct, services, or negligence of any third-party activity provider;
• third-party listings, external websites, or content linked from the Service; or
• any unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 or the total amount paid by you to LanternScout in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Class Action Waiver: To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against LanternScout Technologies Inc. regarding any claim arising out of your use of the Service.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LanternScout Technologies Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, losses, damages, judgments, awards, costs, and reasonable legal expenses arising out of or relating to: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your use of the Service in a manner not authorized by these Terms; (c) your violation of any third party's rights; or (d) your submission of information that is unlawful, inaccurate, or that violates another person's privacy.

17. Changes, Suspension, and Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a revised version. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after the revised Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, stop using the Service.

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada.

19. General Provisions

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LanternScout Technologies Inc. with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
